Care, cleaning & longevity for wellness, bathroom & home

Yoga mats, safety razors, menstrual cups, shampoo bars — the reusables whose hygiene routine actually matters.

Everyday care

  • Yoga mats: quick spray-and-wipe after every practice with a 90% water / 10% white vinegar + a drop of tea-tree oil mix.
  • Safety razors: rinse the head under hot water, tap dry, store somewhere ventilated so the blade lasts its full 5-10 shaves.
  • Shampoo bars: sit on a well-draining wooden or bamboo dish; sitting in water halves the bar's life.

Deep clean

  • Yoga mats fortnightly: bath tub with warm water, small squirt of gentle detergent, sponge, air-dry over a chair (never in direct sun for PVC).
  • Safety razors monthly: unscrew, soak the head in warm soapy water, dry the threads.
  • Menstrual cups: sterilise between cycles by boiling for 5-10 minutes in an open pot.

Longevity tips

  • Roll mats with the practice-side out (opposite of how most people store them) to stop the top layer curling at the edges.
  • Store safety razors dry and separately from wet toothbrushes; humidity plus steel equals rust.
  • Never microwave menstrual cups to sterilise — heat the wrong way warps the silicone.
When to replace

Yoga mat has permanent divots under hands/feet (grip has failed), or a menstrual cup has developed cloudy discolouration that won't sanitise out.
