Glass vs stainless: which reusable drinkware is right for you

Elle Marchetti · Published July 27, 2026

Quick answer

Choose glass if taste and hygiene matter most and you use the vessel at a desk, café or home. Choose stainless if insulation, drop resistance and portability matter more — think commute, gym, outdoors.

Fressko builds both, which is why we keep recommending them: a Fressko Glass 300ml for the desk, a Fressko Flask 500ml for the bag.

Where glass wins

  • Cleanest taste — no metallic note
  • Zero flavour carry-over (curry-scented drink bottles are a real thing with plastic)
  • Easier to see when it is genuinely clean

Where stainless wins

  • Insulation (double-wall vacuum)
  • Drop tolerance
  • Weight-to-volume ratio for bigger sizes

Where both lose

  • Neither loves the microwave (glass can, stainless cannot)
  • Neither loves fizzy drinks in a sealed lid

The two-piece system we actually use

  1. Fressko Glass 300ml — desk, kitchen, café sit-down.
  2. Fressko Flask 500ml — commute, gym, outdoors.

This covers 95% of daily drinking without owning a shelf full of bottles.
